Caterpillars Control
“Caterpillars can harm humans in several ways, though usually indirectly. Certain species, like the pine processionary or Lonomia caterpillars, have tiny venomous hairs or spines that can cause severe skin irritation, rashes, or allergic reactions on contact. In rare cases, exposure can lead to respiratory issues, eye inflammation, or even serious systemic reactions like bleeding disorders. Additionally, caterpillars can damage crops and vegetation, indirectly affecting human food sources and livelihoods. While most encounters are mild, awareness and caution around hairy or brightly colored caterpillars are important to prevent harm.”
